YUKON CHIEFS TO PUSH OTTAWA ON LAND CLAIMS
OTTAWA - Leaders from Yukon First Nations are heading to Ottawa this week to lobby for more money to implement land claims.
Some chiefs said the current arrangement falls short of what's needed.
"We found there are severe inadequacies when it comes to funding. There are issues around policy that limit the ability [of federal officials] to implement the agreements properly," said Joe Linklater, chief of Vuntut Gwich'in First Nation in Old Crow.
