Cdn Railways Oppose Increased Regulation.

Winnipeg, MB, Mar 26, 2008 (Resource News International via COMTEX) -- Rail transportation of grain in western Canada needs less regulation, and not more, according to representatives from the country's two major railways responding to recent claims that the railways make excessive profits at the expense of farmers.

A study conducted by the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB), released March 25, charges that the country's two major railways - Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) - have made more than C$100 million a year in "unreasonably excessive returns" at the expense of western Canadian farmers.
