Clear Guidance From NICE for Treatment of New Group of Advanced Ovarian Cancer Patients.

WELWYN GARDEN CITY, England, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) of England and Wales has today issued its review guidance on the clinical management of patients who require second-line or subsequent treatment of advanced ovarian cancer (i). The guidance states that Caelyx(R) is the only single agent treatment recommended for patients in the newly-recognised category of partially platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer patients - those patients whose tumours relapse between 6 and 12 months after completion of initial platinum-based chemotherapy. The announcement from NICE also acknowledges that Caelyx(R) is both clinically- and cost-effective.
