Biotech Stocks: Smalls Flexing Muscle.

While they are largely unknown outside the industry, a number of small and medium-size biotechnology firms are catching the eye of more investors and financial analysts who are intrigued by the potential demand for new and often lifesaving pharmaceuticals.

Along with other technology sectors, biotech has soared and tanked at various times in the last few years and has recorded an uneven performance in the last 12 months. But the sector is filled with notable standouts.
