Probably no industry has a more varied group of liquid materials than the adhesives and sealants industry. On the one hand, one can consider the filtration problems associated with cheap horse glue. On the other, filtration may involve top-secret adhesives used in the production of composites for military aircraft, priced at hundreds of dollars per pound.

Consequently, filtration of adhesives and sealants may be very simple or very complex. When the end product is extremely expensive, one would not want to lose large amounts of it in the filter element as cleavage.
