PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local JURONG TOWN CORP. is continuing to forge ahead with its massive land reclamation scheme. Plans under consideration are now reportedly aimed at undertaking a 3rd development stage that is eventually aimed at reclaiming a total of some 3000 hectares (ha) of land.
In so doing, JURONG TOWN CORP. recently awarded a contract to Japan-based PENTA-OCEAN CONSTRUCTION CO. According to the terms of the award, the Japanese company will be responsible for reclaiming another 984 ha off the island nation's southwest coast.
The cost of the planned undertaking has been pegged at $900,000,000.
JURONG TOWN CORP. is a statutory body responsible for the development and maintenance of industrial estates.
