PROJECT OVERVIEW: The local MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY CORP. (MTRC) recently awarded a railway construction contract to a Sino/Australian joint venture. The partners in the planned undertaking include LEIGHTON ASIA of Hong Kong, a subsidiary of Australia-based LEIGHTON HOLDINGS, and CHINA STATE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING CORP. of China. According to the terms of the collaborative agreement, LEIGHTON ASIA LTD. will hold an 80% stake in the venture and its partner will pick- up the balance of the equity.
