PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Japanese joint venture consisting of MITSUI & CO. and its affiliate MITSUI CHEMICALS, is currently gearing-up to build a phenol-acetone plant in Singapore. According to the terms of the collaborative agreement, MITSUI CHEMICALS will hold a 90% interest in the venture and MITSUI & CO. will pick-up the balance of the equity.
Construction plans under consideration call for building a factory with an installed production capacity of 200,000 metric tons per year. The new facility, of undisclosed cost, is to be sited at Sakra, Singapore.
As things currently stand, construction start-up is tentatively scheduled to begin in September 1999. And, project completion is slated for some time during the year 2001.
