PROJECT OVERVIEW:

BP SOLAR, a subsidiary of UK-based BP PLC, was recently awarded what is claimed to be the world's largest single solar energy construction project. The development is intended to enable the supply of energy to the remote homes of some 400,000 rural inhabitants in Mindanao that are not yet connected to any power lines.

The project, to be implemented in 2 phases, will initially involve connecting the homes of 5,500 families in 70 villages. Likewise, 25 irrigation systems and 97 clean drinking water and distribution systems will also be powered during the first phase.
