SOUTH KOREA: Construction plans for proposed $400,000,000 wind power complex, SIEMENS AG [Germany] - Order #: 033502.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Germany-based SIEMENS AG recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the South Korean government regarding the construction of a new wind power complex in the country. According to the terms of the MOU, SIEMENS is proposing to build a wind power station with an installed generating capacity of 300 Mw. The new facility, to be sited on the southern Island of Imja in Cholla province, is expected to require an investment of $400,000,000 to complete.
As things currently stand, a final contract is expected to be awarded on April 31,2002. And, operational start-up is scheduled for December 2006. In so doing, the generated electricity will be purchased by the state-owned KOREA ELECTRIC CORP. (KEPCO).
