PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local SARAWAK UNIVERSITY recently awarded a contract to a Japanese/Malaysian joint venture regarding the construction of a new campus. The partners in the planned undertaking include Japan-based TASEI CORP. and an undisclosed Malaysian company.

According to the terms of the award, the partners will be responsible for building on an area that will expand over 8 million square meters. The complex will comprise: - Buildings housing advanced information technology; - Sports facilities; - An outdoor theater designed to accommodate 20,000 students.

As things currently stand, construction work was expected to begin in mid-May 2002 and, project completion is anticipated in just over 2 years. The cost to complete the project...
