PROJECT OVERVIEW:

UK-BASED BP PLC, which operates through its Indonesian subsidiary BP INDONESIA, currently has a contract to supply more than 340 million cubic feet per day (Mcf/d) of natural gas to electricity customers in East Java. However, BP's gas supply coming from the Kangean block is currently around 200 million Mcf/d and, this is expected to fall to 160 Mcf/d by the end of the year.

As a result, the company is said to be optimistic regarding the extension of its gas production-sharing contract (PSC) that is set to expire in 2010. BP, for that matter, is aiming to prolong its agreement for another 20 years.
