PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local UNOCAL GEOTHERMAL OF INDONESIA LTD. (UGI), a subsidiary of US-based UNOCAL CORP., in conjunction with its 50:50 partner DAYABUMI SALAK PRATAMA LTD. (DSPL) of Indonesia recently concluded an agreement over pricing and production issues for the planned Gunung Salak geothermal power project in Indonesia.
Construction plans call for building a 330 Mw geothermal steam production and electricity generation facilities on the western side of the island of Java. The new agreement, to be implemented on the basis of a build-operate (BO) scheme, will extend for 40 years. Energy output will be sold to the state owned PERUSAHAAN LISTRIK NEGARA (PLN) in order to meet increased demand in the Java-Bali electricity distribution system....
