PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local STATE COUNCIL has now finally approved a project feasibility study submitted by a Sino/foreign joint venture regarding the proposed construction of a chemical complex in Shanghai, China. The partners in the planned undertaking and their respective shareholdings include a consortium that teams-up Germany-based BASF AG and HUNTSMAN CORP. of the US that will jointly own a 70% interest in the venture and 4 Chinese firms. The latter comprise SHANGHAI CHLOR ALKALI CHEMICAL CO., CHINA PETROLEUM & CHEMICAL CORP. (SINOPEC), SINOPEC SHANGHAI and SHANGHAI GAO QIAO PETOCHEMICAL CORP.
