PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Sino/American joint venture that teams-up SHELL CHEMICALS and CHINA NATIONAL OFFSHORE OIL CORP. (CNOOC) is currently involved in the development of a $4,300,000,000 petrochemical complex at Daya Bay, adjacent Huizhou, China. And, the partnership recently awarded a construction contract for a various petrochemical plants to a French/Japanese consortium. The partners in the planned undertaking include France-based TECHNIP-COFLEXIP in conjunction with CHIYODA CORP. and MITSUBISHI CORP. (MC) of Japan.

According to the terms of the award, the group will be responsible for building plants with installed production capacities of: - 560,000 metric tons per year (mt/y) of styrene monomer; - 250,000 mt/y of propylene oxide; - 135,000 mt/y...
