PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local state-owned PERUSAHAAN PERTAMBANGAN MINYAK DAN GAS BUMI NEGARA (PERTAMINA) established a joint venture with the HI-TECH INTERNATIONAL GROUP of Saudi Arabia a few years ago in order to build a new oil refinery in Indonesia. However, the tentative partnership subsequently collapsed because of HI-TECH's inability to raise the need project financing. As a result, PERTAMINA has decided to proceed ahead on its own.
Construction plans under consideration call for building a plant with an installed production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day of crude oil that will be sourced from the Cepu oil block.
