PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Indonesian government is presently engaged in a program aimed at reducing the use of leaded gasoline in the country. As a result, the local state-owned PERUSAHAAN PERTAMBANGAN MINYAK DAN GAS BUMI NEGARA (PERTAMINA) recently awarded a refinery upgrade contract to a Japanese/Indonesian joint venture. The partners in the planned undertaking include PT REKAYASA INDUSTRI and Japan-based TOYO ENGINEERING CORP. (TEC).
According to the terms of the award, the partnership will be responsible for modifying the Balongan refinery. The planned upgrade project is intended to enable the refinery to produce unleaded gasoline.
