PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Japan-based SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO. LTD. is currently planning to build a second-generation (2G) color-filter (CF) plant in the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP), Taiwan. The project in question is to be implemented through its local subsidiary SC-IK TECHNOLOGY. Construction plans under consideration call for building a factory with an installed production capacity of 50,000 glass substrates. Product output is to consist of CFs for small-to-medium-size panels.
According to local industry sources, the new plant will mainly supply CFs for handset-use panels for PRIME VIEW INTERNATIONAL (PVI), a Taiwan-based small-to-medium-size panel maker.
The cost to complete the project has been estimated at $48,000,000.
