PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Sino/South Korean joint venture was recently awarded a contract to build a new coal-fired power plant in the country. The partners in the planned undertaking and their respective shareholdings include KOREA ELECTRIC POWER CORP. (KEPCO) of South Korea (59%) in conjunction with the local CHINA DATANG CORP. (31%) and Henan's Jiaozuo government.

Construction plans under consideration call for building a power station with a total installed generating capacity of 1,200 Mw. In so doing the complex, to be sited in Henan province, will be configured with 2-600 Mw generators.

No financial or construction details have however yet been revealed.
