PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local S-OIL CORP., South Korea's third biggest oil refiner, currently owns a single refinery located in southern Korea that has an installed production capacity of 580,000 barrels per day. And, the company after its unsuccessful takeover of INCHON is currently considering the construction of a new domestic refining plant.
Construction plans under consideration, of undisclosed size, would reportedly call for an investment of $1,950,000,000 to complete. The new facility would reportedly be sited in the Daesan industrial complex, located in the mid-western part of the country.
S-OIL employs a total staff of about 2,300 engaged in oil refining as well as the production and sale of petrochemicals and lubricants.
