PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Chinese beer market has been expanding at an annual pace of over 10% in recent years and has eclipsed the US market in 2003 to become the largest in the world. An estimated 28 million kiloliters (kl) of beer was consumed there in 2004. As a result, Japan-based ASAHI BREWERIES LTD. which currently operates 4 beer plants in China recently decided to build another unit.

Construction plans call for building a facility with an installed production capacity of 100,000 kiloliters per year (kl/y). In so doing, the company will increase its beer production up to 670,000 kl/y thus making it the largest Japanese brewer in the country. Product output will mainly consist of low-priced beer.
