The global light emitting diode (LED) market is said to be worth $5,000,000,000 in annual sales and growing at an average rate of 25% per annum. As a result, Netherlands-based ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS is keen to consolidate its leadership position. In so doing, the company recently announced that it would invest an undisclosed amount in the setting up of a high power LED production facility in Singapore. The plant will be a high volume production facility for the LUXEON(r) range of LEDs.
