PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The global light emitting diode (LED) market is said to be worth $5,000,000,000 in annual sales and growing at an average rate of 25% per annum. As a result, Netherlands-based ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS is keen to consolidate its leadership position. In so doing, the company recently announced that it would invest an undisclosed amount in the setting up of a high power LED production facility in Singapore. The plant will be a high volume production facility for the LUXEON(r) range of LEDs. The LEDs in question are used in city beautification lighting, LCD displays, camera flash for mobile phones, automotive applications and various other applications.
