PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A Pakistani/Omani Joint venture is currently gearing-up to build what is claimed to be a world-scale ammonia and urea complex in Oman. The partners in the planned undertaking include Pakistan-based ENGRO CHEMICAL PAKISTAN LTD. and OMAN OIL CO. of Oman.

In so doing, the partnership is proposing to transfer an existing ammonia unit to Sohar from an undisclosed site. In addition, the venture intends to build a new urea plant. As things currently stand, the partners are aiming to complete a technical and economic feasibility study by some time around mid-2003. However, no project cost details or implementation timetable have yet been revealed.
