PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local AZERBAIJAN INTERNATIONAL OPERATING CO. (AIOC), a joint venture operated by UK-based BP PLC, is soon expected to award a technical services contract to KCA DEUTAG, a subsidiary of the ABBOT GROUP of the UK.

According to the tentative award, KCA will be responsible for the provision of platform drilling services for the development of the Azeri, Chirag and Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) Fields, in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The project valued at $75,000,000 is expected to last for 5 years from commencement drilling operations which are scheduled to begin on the Central Azeri platform scheduled for mid-2004.
