PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Qatari/American joint venture was recently established in view of launching the first phase of a gas development project dubbed Al Khaleej Gas (AKG-1). The partners in the planned undertaking include the local QATAR PETROLEUM CORP. (QPC) and EXXONMOBIL MIDDLE EAST GAS MARKETING LTD. (EMMEGML), a subsidiary of US-based EXXONMOBIL CORP.
Development plans call for producing gas from the enormous reserves of natural gas at Qatar's North Field in order to recover associated condensate and natural gas liquids for sale as well as eventually market 1.75 billion cubic feet per day of pipeline gas for domestic and export customers. In so doing, AKG will be developed in phases to meet the partnership's gas sales commitments.
