PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Asian-Pacific region is expected to see a sharp growth in demand for natural gas in the next 15 years and China is one of the most potential markets. As a result, the local OAO GAZPROM is planning to build 2 pipelines to transmit natural gas from Russia to China that will have an aggregate gas transmission capacity of 68 billion cubic meters per year.

According to Alexei Miller, GAZPROM Deputy Chairman & Chairman (Management Committee), the western pipeline with an annual transmission capacity of 30 billion cubic meters per year will be considered first.
