NASA Aeronautics: On a Glide Path to Irrelevance?

BETHLEHEM, Pa., Sept. 27 (AScribe Newswire) -- A shift of national priorities has severely diminished America's ability to lead the world in aviation research, according to a Lehigh University professor who has co-authored a report questioning the country's commitment to aeronautics.

That report, titled "Glide Path to Irrelevance: Federal Funding for Aeronautics," methodically lays out why investments in aviation technology and research - which have long been the cornerstone of America's economic engine - are being drastically reduced. Similar questions were asked bay members of the U.S. House Committee on Science's Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics yesterday afternoon in a hearing on Capitol Hill.
