SWARTHMORE, Pa., Nov. 1 (AScribe Newswire) -- Lauren Goodfriend ('08), a Swarthmore College engineering and mathematics major from Danbury Conn., is living her dream - sort of. She knows that when she owns a house, she wants to power it herself. Until then, while she lives in campus housing, she's come pretty close.

For a second year, Lauren is using a solar panel to provide the electricity she needs in her dorm room. She also grows her own vegetables, at first by using traditional methods and, as of this month, with an aeroponic system she also designed and built.
