DOE Provides Funds to Federal Fleets for EVs.(Brief Article)

The Department of Energy (DOE) recently awarded $821,000 in incremental funding to 25 federal fleets for the leasing of 80 electric-powered Chrysler EPIC minivans and 95 Ford Ranger electric vehicle (EV) pickup trucks. The agency said the EVs will be used by federal fleets in Washington, D.C., and 10 states. The funds were provided by DOE's Field Operations Program, which is managed by the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
The Field Operations Program offers incremental funding for any federal fleet manager who wants to lease a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)-certified light-duty EV.
