Nissan Enters Japanese Hybrid Race With Tino.(Brief Article)

Japanese automaker Nissan filled orders for 100 of its new Tino hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in a single day last month, meeting its target projections. Orders were taken over the Internet, starting at 10 a.m. on April 14.
The company said its target level was reached by midnight. While Toyota and Honda also offer their own HEVs, observers are skeptical whether Nissan's Tino can compete with them. Nissan is spending more to produce the Tino than it is charging customers (around $30,000).
"Nissan may lose money if they sell more of these," said Okasan Economic Research Institute analyst Kenji Tanaka.
