Honda Encouraged by FCV Field Tests.

Honda Motor Company recently announced that tests on its fuel cell vehicle (FCV), the FCX-V3, have demonstrated performance levels close to that of a car powered by an internal combustion engine. The automaker said the tests indicate that its plans to bring the vehicle to market in 2003 are on track.

At a recent public demonstration at its research facility in Tochigi Prefecture, the FCX-V3 was able to accelerate from zero to 80 kilometers per hour (kph) within a few seconds. The FCV reached a top speed of 130 kph. Honda said it has been field testing the FCV prototype in Tochigi since the beginning of this month.
