Hyundai Working to Develop Santa Fe FCV.(Hyundai Motor Co., fuel cell vehicles)(Brief Article)

Last year, Hyundai Motor Company introduced a fuel cell-powered version of its Santa Fe sport-utility vehicle (SUV), developed in cooperation with International Fuel Cells (IFC).
Shortly after unveiling the fuel cell vehicles (FCVs), the automaker began test driving the Santa Fes as part of a project launched by the California Fuel Cell Partnership. The program requires that the FCVs undergo 90 miles of test driving per day for 40 months before "commercial approval."
"There have been hybrid vehicles that use both electric batteries and fuel cells, but this is the first time that a Korean automaker has produced one which runs purely on fuel cells," said Hyundai research and development division head Kim Chae-won.
