Nissan Diesel Unveils HEV With Capacitor.(hybrid electric vehicle)(Brief Article)(Product Announcement)

Japan's Nissan Diesel Motor Company recently introduced a commercially available hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) with a diesel-fueled engine paired with an electric motor and a capacitor. The Capacitor Hybrid Truck is a hybrid electric version of the company's Condor truck and features a "Super Power Capacitor" that is able to store twice as much power as a conventional capacitor.

The automaker said the capacitor stores energy when the truck slows down, improving the performance of the vehicle's regenerative braking system. The HEV's electric motor powers the truck during startup, with the diesel engine taking over when the vehicle reaches a constant speed.

Nissan said the hybrid truck is available in two models, but is considerably more expensive...
