Honda FCV Receives EPA, CARB Certification. (Honda FCX fuel cell vehicle, Environmental Protection Agency, California Air Resources Board).(Brief Article)

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. recently announced that its fuel cell-powered Honda FCX has been certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as "meeting all applicable standards." The automaker said the fuel cell vehicle (FCV) has been certified by CARB as a zero emission vehicle (ZEV) and by EPA as a Tier II, Bin 1 national low emission vehicle (NLEV).

"This is an important milestone for the automobile industry that holds the promise of cleaner air for all Americans," said EPA Office of Air and Radiation assistant administrator Jeff Holmstead. "While there still remains much work ahead to make [FCVs] a mainstream transportation option, this certification is an important first step."
