Ener1 Battery to Participate in DOE Project.(lithium-metal secondary batteries with polymer electrolytes and cathodes)(Brief Article)

Ener1, Inc. recently announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) has approved a joint project involving Ener1 subsidiary Ener1 Battery Company, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Ukrainian State Chemical Technology University and Yuzhnoye State Design Office that will research, develop, prototype and produce new lithium-metal secondary batteries with polymer electrolytes and cathodes based on metal oxides.

According to Ener1, the "Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention" (IPP) program was established by DOE to provide "peaceful and productive alternative missions involving new technologies for scientists and engineers in former Soviet Union countries who were involved in weapons work."
