Officials with the planned community of Playa Vista outside Los Angeles, CA, recently presented a new battery-powered neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) manufactured by DaimlerChrysler subsidiary Global Electric Motorcar (GEM) to community resident Michael Uszler. Community officials said the goal of providing the NEV is to encourage residents to "lease or purchase [Gemcars] through a special program developed with DaimlerChrysler."
"The use of electric vehicles and other low-emission transportation solutions illustrates Playa Vista's drive to create a dynamic new community with pioneering technology and an emphasis on quality of life," said Playa Vista president Steve Soboroff.
