Pemex Hikes LP Gas Wholesale Price 2 Percent.
Internet Securities, February, 2001
MEXICO CITY, Feb 1, 2001
Mexican state-owned energy conglomerate Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) announced a 2-percent increase in the wholesale price of liquid petroleum gas beginning Feb. 1, and distributors pledged not to raise retail prices by more than that amount. National LP Gas Distributors Association President Francisco Hernandez said the extent of hikes in retail prices will vary across the country. "There are 16 different zones demarcated by Pemex, different prices and different profit margins that vary as a function of the costs of each company," Hernandez said. He said LP gas consumers in the Federal District, home to Mexico City, will pay 6 pesos per kilogram as of Feb 1. The price is the highest ever recorded in the capital.
