Boeing Hatches Plans For Mexico Subsidiary.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 5, 2001

Seattle, Wash.-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group is planning to establish a subsidiary in Mexico to build aircraft components, according to Boeing Vice President for Latin American Sales Daniel da Silva. Da Silva, speaking on the weekend in Acapulco, Mexico, said the U.S.-based aircraft maker plans to begin making components in Mexico at a yet-to-be-determined date during the next five years to 10 years. He said the company, which in July will open a sales office in Mexico, also is deciding whether or not to set up a banking concern in Mexico, to finance the acquisition of aircraft by local airlines.
