Mexican Finance Minister Expects PAN-PRI Alliance To Pass Tax Plan.

Mexican Finance Minister Francisco Gil Diaz on Wednesday said that a political consensus had not yet been formed behind a major tax reform plan drafted by the administration of President Vicente Fox and tabled in the opposition-controlled Congress in early April, according to a report in Mexican financial daily El Economista. Gil said, however, that congressmen from Fox's National Action Party and the opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) likely would form an alliance to approve the package of reforms, although with some modifications to the administration's plan, El Economista business columnist Marilena Vega reported.
