MEXICO CITY, May 17, 2001

Mexico will support the planned resumption of multilateral negotiations on global trade liberalization but only under certain conditions, Mexican chief trade negotiator Luis de la Calle said Wednesday in Paris. "Mexico is in favor of a new round (of negotiations) but it must be comprehensive and include a sufficient number of themes to take into consideration the interests of the various countries" that belong to the World Trade Organization (WTO), De la Calle said, according to a report in Mexico City daily Reforma.
