Dupont Mexico Lowers Sales Forecast For 2001.

Internet Securities, August, 2001

MEXICO CITY, Aug 29, 2001

As a result of the slowdown in the Mexican economy, growth expectations for Dupont (NYSE:DD) Mexico for 2001 have been reduced, reported Mexico City daily el Economista. The company's sales during the first half of the year were 513 million dollars, 3 percent less than during the first half of 2000, said Dupont Mexico President Douglas Muzyka. Of total sales, 370 million dollars came from domestic sales, a reduction over the previous period. Export sales were 143 million dollars, an increase of 6 percent over the year-ago period. The company invested 70 million dollars in 2000, but in 2001 will invest only 35 million dollars, due to the declined economy, said Muzyka.
