Negotiations For World Cup Rights Set To Resume.

Direct to home (DTH) broadcaster DirecTV is expected on January 16 to resume negotiations with TV Azteca (BMV:TVAZTCA, NYSE:TZA) and Televisa (BMV:TLEVISA, NYSE:TV) for the rights to transmit the 2002 World Cup of Soccer on open-air television, reported Mexico City daily Reforma business columnist Dario Celis Estrada. The television networks will be represented by TV Azteca's Marcel Vinay, while DirecTV will be represented by Raul Reyes. Negotiations have so far been without success because of DirecTV high asking price. The DTH company is also trying to sell the rights for radio broadcast of the games, although it has met with little success in this area either.
