IMF bumps up growth estimate for Mexico.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 13, 2002

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its growth estimate for Mexico, estimating the economy will expand 1.7% this year, compared to the 1.4% predicted three months ago. Less than a month before the IMF's spring meeting, the organization has predicted that Latin America will grow 1% this year, fueled by the recovery of the region's two largest economies, Brazil and Mexico.Mexico was among the hardest-hit by the recent global recession, but has climbed out of the hole as its principal trade partner, the United States, shows signs of recovery.
