Coca-Cola Femsa expects operating profits to grow 14% this year.

MEXICO CITY, May 29, 2002

Bottling company Coca-Cola Femsa expects sales growth of 5% for this year and operating profits to rise 14%, compared to 2001 despite the drop in sales seen in Argentina. Grupo Fomento Economico Mexicano (Femsa) reported that it would promote corporate strategies to maintain its share in the market to which it supplies its products in Argentina.In Mexico, the company estimated sales growth of between 3% and 5% for this year and a 12%-14% increase in operating profits during the same period.During the first quarter of this year, consolidated sales rose 3.4% year-on-year, reaching 3.75 billion pesos (US$390 billion). Operating profits increased 16% year-on-year.
