Mexico becomes top U.S. oil provider.

In the first half of 2002, Mexico surpassed Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and Canada in terms of the volume of crude oil exported to the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mexico sold 264.7 million barrels of oil between January and June, compared to 258.9 million from Saudi Arabia, 252.0 million from Canada and 229.0 million from Venezuela.Crude exports to the United States brought Mexico US$5.7 billion from January to June, excluding the cost of transportation and insurance. This revenue level was up 6.6% from the same period in 2001.
