Visa to back anti-fraud program in hotels and restaurants.

MEXICO CITY, Oct 15, 2002 (Notimex/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Visa and other associated banks are to work on the "safe restaurant" pilot program, in order to combat fraud committed through crimes such as cloning or robbery of credit cards. Visa said that to fulfill that purpose the company has installed wireless terminals in the Polanco area, the Fonda del Recuerdo and two restaurants in the Hotel Presidente to guarantee that clients do not lose sight of their credit cards when they paying.The program is part of a joint plan that includes the participation of the main credit payment companies, as well as the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry (Canirac) and the Mexican Banking Association (ABM).According to the ABM, losses...
