Wal-Mart joins government price-reduction program.

MEXICO CITY, Nov 15, 2002 (Cronica/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Wal-Mart has joined the price-reduction program coordinated by the Secretariat of the Economy. Beginning Thursday and for a minimum of 90 days it will slash prices on at least one commercial brand of 56 products included in the basic goods basket, including food oil, rice, tuna, sugar, beans, detergent and ham. The members of the National Associations of Self-Serve and Department Stores (ANTAD) are participating in the program. The goal is to help decrease inflation. The program will be verified by the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco).
