Credit card companies want fraud classified as felony.

MEXICO CITY, Dec 3, 2002 (El Universal/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Credit card companies and members of the restaurant and hotel sector will lobby legislators to designate credit card fraud as a serious crime."It is fundamental that this crime be designated a felony to impede criminals from getting out on bail," said Javier Calderon, head of risk administration at Visa International. The sector representatives hope the change will come into effect in the first half of next year. Calderon said the coalition against fraud includes Visa, American Express and MasterCard, as well as hotel and restaurant associations.
