Sanyo bets on Mexico to produce solar cells.

MEXICO CITY, Dec 11, 2002 (Cronica/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Japanese group Sanyo Electric has announced it will invest US$2 million in Mexico to fabricate photovoltaic generators that will produce solar energy. Sanyo Energy, an affiliate of the group, expects to begin the installation of new assembly lines at the factory in Tijuana in January. Sanyo will invest 250 million yen and will hire 30 employees. The factory will have an annual production capacity of 10 megawatts in solar energy batteries."We hope to begin production by August," said Hiroshi Inoue, a representative from Sanyo.
