Tractebel and Alstom interested in investing in Mexico.

MEXICO CITY, Feb 18, 2003 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The Belgian firms Tractebel and Alstom have shown strong interest in making investments in Mexico, as long as Congress approves the reform of the electricity sector.After meeting an economic mission from Belgium headed by Prince Felipe and Minister Annemie NeytsUyttebroeck, Mexico's Secretary of the Economy Fernando Canales Clariond, said the Belgians were interested in "direct exploitation of energy." He said that if the law were changed they would be even more willing to invest.Tractebel already has a presence in Mexico in the distribution of natural gas in the states of Queretaro, Tamaulipas and Jalisco.
